Close but not close enough! That's what I would say about this places authenticity. The service is A1, the apps were decent but not authentic. I am a tough critic though, I will say that! I ordered the fajitas and you can't go wrong with that anywhere in the Mexican restaurant World but here the chicken and veggies were great but the steak was tougher than I prefer. My brother Ordered the carnitas plate and I had a taste and it was glorious! I would stop back in if ever in the area. The service was phenomenal! I love that and it helps make the experience a better so until mañana muchachos!

Pretty good Mexican food. Prices are ok. The drinks are good. We haven't Been Back. I will give it another try with the family.

Best Mexican restaurant within at least a 100 mile radius. We've been going to this place forever, management is awesome, the food and service is authentic and delicious. The management, more specifically Gueirmo, is one of the most hospitable people I've met in the restraraunt business. Whether I come in there daily, or I come in after being absent for a year, my family and I are always met with a handshake, a kind greeting and a genuine recollection of our patronage to his Nuevo. We love the food, it's terrific, the chips are at your table right after you sit down, the salsa and moreover the cheese dip is spectacular. The margaritas are awesome and range from small to fishbowl. We've been to Nuevo many many times and have never left disappointed. It can be overwhelmingly busy there and the service is still rapid. Even on cinco de mayo we haven't waited longer than 10 minutes. 1 of our favorites for sure.

We have gone to Nuevo Vallarta on a fairly regular basis for a number of years now. The food has always been hot, fresh, flavorful and served fasted. The baseline I use for all American-Mexican restaurants, and one of my favorite dishes, is the Chile Relleno. It is a very simple dish on the surface, however many things can go wrong if it is not careful prepared. Nuevo Vallarta does it very well every time. I have eaten a large portion of their menu and have to say I have never been disappointed with the quality of any of their dishes. My favorites are the fore mentioned Chile Relleno and their Special Combo, but if you order the Special Combo be prepared to take boxes home with you.

The food is really good. The service is extremely fast. They have a large variety of different types of foods.

Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. We just moved to the area, and we've been there three times already. Every time we all get different entrees, and everything has been excellent, including the service. Decor is fun, not authentic, but very fun. Bar is great. Giant Margeritas are yummy! I'm definitely a huge fan!

Insanely fast and friendly service every time. Authentic Mexican food and awesome atmosphere. Affordable food with large portions. A must-go if you like Mexican food. Decent Mexican beer selection also! And daily deals.

Tasty veggie quesadillas, endless chips and salsa, awesome drink specials. They have huge margaritas on the rocks that are ginormous and super cheap!!!

Good food, and always very friendly and fast service. I am impressed with the fast service even when the restaurant is full on Friday night.

Family and I have been driving by this place for a while and we decided to go last night instead of our "usual" Mexican restaurant (which will remain nameless). The service was good, the arrival time of the food was perfect (right when we finished our tortilla chips) and the price was decent for the area. (Grand Blanc is always more expensive as than it should be). The only thing holding back from a 5 star review was how dark it was at the table we were sitting and the slightly, but fairly, inflated pricing on the meals. With all that being said we will DEFINITELY return the next time we crave some well made Mexican food.

Nuevo Vallarta is brightly decorated, a bit garishly so. While not traditional Mexican, it is a fun place for groups. The menu is large, with plenty of options including combination plates. Chips and salsa are brought as a stater. The chips were pretty good and seemed fresh and the salsa had a bit of a kick. The food was good, but I have to disagree with the comments that it is the best in Michigan. I had a couple of enchiladas and a taco. The meat was cooked well, and while each item had flavor, it was not as flavorful as I would like and there was no kick of spice. I found the beans that came on the side to be bland. The rice was also a bit bland and a bit dry. My friend's fajitas were better, much more flavorful. From my experience and reading the other reviews, the quality of the item depends on what you order. The highlight was the margaritas. The frozen strawberry margaritas with sugar on the rim were really why I would recommend going.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the Flint area. Their chips and salsa aren't my favorite, but their chicken enchiladas make up for it. A friend of mine had them cater for a birthday party and it was excellent (first time I ever had them- we've eaten there about 5 times since then). Their non shredded chicken (like fajita chicken) was rubbery and gross to me, but their shredded chicken is the best. I always order enchiladas verde.

So this is a hard place to review for me on the one hand I like the place in comparison to all the other Mexican restaurants in town. But my problem is this like every other place is not real Mexican food. Keeping that in mind if you're in the mood for what flint people view as authentic Mexican come here because the food they do serve is good, and the service is always great. Just one word of caution. Don't order a margarita, a Mexican restaurant that uses bottled sour mix in a margarita is a sin.

Been here twice now, both times were EXCELLENT! Best Mexican food I've ever ate, and my boyfriend (who's FROM Texas) has ever ate as well! Food is authentic and delicious! Service is SUPER fast, and the food is always hot and prepared perfectly. The prices are more than reasonable, and the atmosphere is lovely. If you want Mexican, this is the only place to go!

Terrible service and terrible food. Maybe this place cuts it in Grand Blanc, but in relation to even an average place everywhere else, it's awful. Our food took nearly an hour and it was not even that crowded for a Friday night (no wait and several open tables). After that wait our order came out wrong and at different times. Amateur hour from start to finish.

Great place for a quick and filling lunch. While not "authentic" Mexican food, it was good. I had the beef burrito with beans and rice. Great flavors and the food arrived fast. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is colorful and welcoming. Give it a try!

Absolutely adore their fajita taco salad... I crave it on a weekly basis! I've never been disappointed with anything I've selected off of the menu. The food comes out of the kitchen at warped speed! Seriously.... they're SO fast! Have to admit, I love spending my Friday evenings after work at Neuvo's colorful bar. Huge glass of wine for under $5 :)

Very good food, very nice atmosphere. . .sometimes the servers are a little slow, but once they take your order, food arrives quickly. The bar is nice and drinks are priced moderately. The building is a little old and the decor is a bit tattered. Its not the type of place you'd take a first date. Over all though, very much worth a visit, you won't be disappointed!

I've been coming here on and off for the past 7 years. The food is fantastic (I usually order a la carte, though) and well-priced. And oh my god, the chips and salsa are amazing. I find myself filling up on them before I even get my food! But best of all... is the service! I never have had to ask for a re-fill (soda, chips, or salsa). It just magically arrives perfectly in time. Because of the great service, I go to Nuevo Vallarta with my friends and have a great time, because we're never worried about a darn thing! OH! And the MARGARITAS! Get those, too! :D

This is my ALL TIME favorite Mexican restaurant in Michigan! We have been coming here ever since it was opened. The food is always amazing and service is fast, there is really no point in ordering an appetizer bc by the time you get that your entree is ready. They have the best cheese dip and salsa...they have the best everything. The managers there are super friendly and make sure you're taken care of that makes you just want to come back for more. Food is outstanding, and so is the customer service!

Worst restaurant experience we've had in years. We waited 30 minutes to get a drink. I went to the bar to ask if I could get one to take to the table and someone who we assumed was the manager took our order. My wife's order was a bar whiskey and 7up and he brought it with water. We called him back to the table and told him 2 others had tasted the drink and there was no carbonation in it, so it was probably water. He took the drink and brought back a glass of Sprite (they had no 7up) and a shot in another glass. The Sprite was obviously carbonated by looking at the bubbles, but the manager insisted that my wife taste it. Then he had her pour the shot of whiskey in the Sprite and had her mix it up, then insisted that she taste it again. He had a very condescending attitude, like he thought she didn't know what she was talking about. When we ordered another drink they brought back the ORIGINAL whiskey and water she had refused. It had about 3-4 ice cubes in it that had been melting and was quite noticeably not a fresh drink. If we weren't there for a surprise birthday party we probably would have left. Wait staff (other than the person we dealt with) was adequate getting the food out. My wife said her food was good---mine was so-so. We will not go through this experience again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Upon arriving this place feels like El Cuzomels sister site, which isnt bad! We ordered a pollo vallarta and "veggie plate A" which was a tostada, bean burrito (wet) and enchilada. Had no idea what a tostada or enchilada was but the tostada was like shredded lettuce, half a tomato and a dallop of sour cream on a flat tortilla stuck to the plate with beans paste. I passed that and went to the enchilada. It was....different. The bean burrito was slightly better but the bean slurry was really thin. Frankly if I were actually a vegetarian I think Id be pissed. I substituted the side of beans and cheese for rice which was delicious but why after getting essentially two rolls of tortilla and cheese and bean paste would I want a side of more cheese and more bean paste? We make better veggie burritos at home. Pollo vallarta- got it because it seemed like their specialty- consisted of a grilled chicken breast patty, rice (with stew vegetables), and a grilled mix of shrimp, green peppers, zucchini, and sweet onions. the veggie-shrimp mix and rice were wonderful! But there was something...off with the chicken. It was dry, yet rubbery. It tasted like the grill itself. I would get it again, sans the pollo. All in all there's nothing to make us come back. Pretty amazed when a woman who seemed to be the manager saw us send back full plates and didn't approach us to ask what was wrong. Great customer service. Pfffffffft

The people giving this place a good grade know nothing about Mexican food. This place is at best tex mex, it's about as mexican as a coney dog. Seriously. If you like hamburger meat in you tacos, you don't know mexican food. For the love of god, I would love some el pastor or carne asada tacos, burritos, anything. This is nothing more than cheap, white people mexican food not mexican mexican food

The food was really flavorful! Service was attentive and quick. The staff was super friendly. Great with our 2 and 4 year olds. Fantastic experience! Recommend it to anyone. We loved the chile verde plate and the Pablos burrito!!! Delicious! Ok, so then i went back about a week later and ordered the chile verde to go and it was not that good. The meet was hard and dry like beef jerky. It still had decent flavor, but i was disappointed and was not in the mood to drive all the way back to return it or complain. They redeemed themselves the third time i went in. I got the Pablos burrito again and it was amazing. Delicious food! I don't know what happened that second visit.

Good food; but beware. The waiter tried to rip me off. I had to ask for my change, I gave him $40 for a $21 check. When I got my change, it was all in singles.

I love this place. We come here a couple of times each month and are never disappointed. The decor is great and the service is typically awesome. The food is always good and at very reasonable prices. Do not hesitate to go. You will not. Be disappointed.

Delicious food! Had the fajitas and nachos and the meat was grilled perfectly and nachos had the right amount of cheese. Their salsa is delicious! Only thing was that the shrimp might have been a little salty

Nuevo Vallarta is the most authentic Mexican restaurant we have found in the area. Great decor, nice atmosphere, festive music and great food. The menu has something for everyone, plus they are always running specials so this place is easy on the wallet. I personally love the chipotle fajitas and the large Dos Equis is like ordering a tanker truck. Do yourself a favor and order it.

I went for one trip when I was back in town for a visit. I think I liked this place better when it was Russo's, but that should tell you how long it's been since I've been back in that strip mall. Food was pretty bland, despite the attempt at classic offerings rather than over-cheesed Americanized versions of Mexican food. My camarones especiales was little more than a few (shrimpy, as in non-jumbo) shrimp in hot sauce. They do pack a mean punch in their 'ritas, which is a plus. I'd have to say that I like Los Cuatro Amigos up in Bay City better, which is shocking since I hate most things Bay City!

I go here at least once a month if not more!! This place is great! The atmosphere is nice! I suggest the Pollo Vallarta and the chips and salsa are unlimited! One day during the week they have a live mariachi band! They go out of their way to be friendly too! Everytime I go they shake my hand and say hello! I am a regular but still!

I've eaten here twice. I may give it one more chance. Chips & salsa are really good. Margarita nice and strong. the food though? ehhhh, not that great. there is better mexican food to be had in the Flint/GB/Fenton area.

The sister restaurant of one my favorites, Puerto Vallarta in Flint, this is the first place I think of eating when I'm in the Grand Blanc area. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the decor is very pleasing.

In an effort to curb our Mexican food craving, we dashed over to Nuevo Vallarta on a Saturday night. The parking lot was packed, and the restaurant was certainly hopping, so I was getting excited to eat some Mexican food. It had definitely been a long time since I went to a sit-down restaurant that was devoted to Mexican food. Husband had been here before with a friend, and said "it wasn't bad." That cue to me = A-OK. Well, since I had a slight idea on what to expect, I'd have to say that Nuevo Vallarta delivered on MY expectations. Was the food great? Not particularly, but it was hot and fresh. Flavors and ingredients were balanced, and I didn't have to down a bajillion glasses of water to take away the sodium levels that I often experience at Mexican restaurants. In addition to that, fresh tortilla chips made in house with a pretty spicy salsa give this place a more quaint and charming vibe. Service was great, and our server was quick on his feet, and he got our order in quickly (what we like, considering the restaurant was SUPER busy and loud, things we aren't super fond of). What could stand to improve? First off, I have never been a fan of refried beans. Not just for the texture and taste, but with the addition of cheese, ick. I know that a lot of people love refried beans, but for us that don't like them, could you please offer an option for black beans? Oh, and no cheese please? I mean, key here is, options options! :) Rice was pretty tasty, but could stand to be lighter in texture rather over clumpy. Aside from all of that, our meals were good. I ordered the Two Chimichanga plate ($9.59); one filled with beef, and the other filled with chicken. Texture of meat was lovely and it was very lean and moist. Husband ordered the massive Burrito Loco ($11.29) that was FILLED to the brim with steak, chicken, caramelized onions, beans, and guacamole. Covering the massive beast was a light green tomatillo sauce. Luckily, there was two of us to finish it, as one person would be eating that sucker for a few days! In the end, for a quick Mexican fix, it does the trick. It's not mind blowing, but service certainly makes up for some of the misses. We'll be back once in a while, if we're absolutely craving some Mexican sit-down food. :)

Food is great, but since one of the owners recently changed it tastes a bit different. Atmosphere is great and margaritas are delicious. I just wish the staff wouldn't clean/sweep the floors right next to you while you eat.

  • David G.

Outstanding food, decent prices for both food and drinks. The restaurant is tucked back off the road in downtown Grand Blanc with poor advertisement at the street. So it is kind of hard to find/realize its even there. Prior to finding it we had always gone to the Sagebrush Cantina in Fenton, however the Sagebrush in always very crowded and more expensive. So Nuevo Vallarta was a very nice alternative with the same quality of food for cheaper without the elbow to elbow dining.

Stopped in this evening for dinner with my wife and one of our sons. The food was good, as usual, the service prompt, and the food arrived incredibly fast. One reviewer below didn't like how the staff gathers in a certain area of the restaurant which for us tonight was right next to our table. Honestly, it didn't bother my wife nor me, but I can see where this might bother some folks. Also, you can tell English is a second language in this restaurant which for me makes this a more authentic feeling experience.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
